You're with us or you're against us...

ACLU - Government is Abusing "States Secrets Privilege" to Cover Up National Security Blunders: "The government should be applauding, not punishing, employees who risk their jobs to expose threats to our nation's security," said ACLU Associate Legal Director Ann Beeson. "If the lower court ruling stands, many thousands of government employees will be unprotected from retaliatory dismissal, with no recourse in the courts, and others will be even less willing to risk exposing misconduct or corruption."

The following exchange comes from Carl The Clever Clogs, who I hope will soon be online with a blog of his own:

You're fired!
Why?
That thing you said about national security fuck ups - it's meant to be a secret!
Which bit exactly?
I can't tell you - it's a secret.
So you're firing me for something I said? But you can't tell me which bit?
Oh I can tell you which bit got you fired...
Oh, alright then. Which bit?
The secret bit!

Oh, and here's a lovely item about George 'Watch This Drive' Bush's attitude and priorities...

Washington Post - U.S. Tells D.C. to Pay Inaugural Expenses
: D.C. officials said yesterday that the Bush administration is refusing to reimburse the District for most of the costs associated with next week's inauguration, breaking with precedent and forcing the city to divert $11.9 million from homeland security projects.
