Every time I read something like this in The Sun, I can’t help thinking that we’re all missing out on some huge, scathing irony by the opinion piece writers. I mean, the hypocrisy in the “two-faced and unprincipled” comment is just so barefaced and obvious to anyone even remotely familiar with Mr Murdoch’s tactics that it’s actually, well, funny. It feels like someone in The Sun’s office is sitting there going “I wonder how far we can push people before they realise it’s all a big joke?”Of course, the sickening thing of it all is that it’s not a joke, and that the gnat-minded Sun-reading bigots of the country will lap up every single fucking word of it.Gah. I’m angry now.

I’d say they’re hedging their bets; they’d love to back the Tories but don’t want to be seen to back a loser. If Howard’s mob looks at any point like they’re in with a sniff of winning, The Sun will declare for them.
