Tim Ireland on tabloids, media, blogs and politics
Now… step… carefully… away… from… the… Blair….
You may have noticed this. You may even recall that we’ve been here before.
Now, I’m trying to play nice here, but what really sticks in my craw is the blatantly dishonest suggestion that any vote against Labour is a conscious vote for fascism. This pattern continues here.
How can we possibly be evil if we’re at war with evil? Or, to put it another way (source); “Blairites can only define themselves as progressive if they do so in a negative fashion – ie, we’re not the Tories and we’re not the BNP.”
Bob’s welcome to his objections, but it’s disappointing to see him playing this game.
(Bob can say what he likes in reply and I’ll let it lie. I’ve no time for infighting.)

Piper must be getting desperate to resort to these kind of tactics. His insinuation that if you don't vote New Labour then you'll get the BNP doesn't say much for his faith in the British democratic system.

Tim, that wasn't what I was trying to say… although, due to my ale befuddled, post canvassing expression, it is how it came out. I was just trying to qualify the 'anyone but Labour' message. No war!

Mr q, I'm not in the slightest way desperate, nor is it any comment on the British democratic system, as you call it nor my 'faith' of which I have little. I haven't got a BNP opponent, so my personal position is not relevant. In some areas of the West Midlands though, it IS a straight Labour-BNP choice. We have had 3 BNP councillors in Sandwell, two in Dudley, and they are contesting EVERY seat in Birmingham.
