A person may represent themself in an Irish court, or may (I believe) choose any other person they wish as representation.However, a company or any other organisation is legally required to have a qualified solicitor or barrister representing them.See:Battle v Irish Art Promotion Centre Ltd (1968)"The defendant company was involved in legal proceedings but did not have enough money for legal representation. The plaintiff, who was the major shareholder and managing director of the company, sought to conduct the company's defence.
