The toothless IPCC, my arse. What use are they? Police officers shoot dead unarmed man? Health and Safety.If there were CCTV or video footage of me launching a disproportionate attack on a member of the public that resulted in their death, I'd rather expect to be hauled up before the beak, and tried before a jury of my peers, then sent down for significant number of years. Why are the police exempt from this?

If you have got nothing to hide, why hide your number? It is a disciplinary offence for a prison officer to disguise his identification number. I suspect the same applies in the case of a police officer. I see no difference between this case and a mugger wearing a face mask, both are seeking to conceal identity to evade capture for wrongdoing.

Newsnight and the PA are reporting this officer has been suspended. He is a police sergeant! Not that you could tell from his uniform. In the territorial support group of course.David Howarth, LibDem justice spokesman, said: "The fact that this video shows another example of an officer with his number obscured assaulting a member of the public indicates that there is a systematic problem here, not just a series of individual acts of misconduct. Hmm.I think this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-AU1EbnHlM video is actually better. You can see that the woman is clearly non-threatening. She is actually pointing AWAY from the policeman (see from 0:15). She's confrontational, but I saw worse behaviour from a woman in a local shop, she'd bought back a fan that wasn't working, the guy asked for the receipt, which she didn't have, she got very angry, smashed the fan onto the floor and started shouting about 'Pakis'.I doubt the man in the shop was trained in managing aggressive situations, but funnily enough, despite the provocation, he managed not to assault her.
