Independent – My Life in Media: Guido Fawkes Paul Staines
What is the best thing about your job?
The stalkers I’ve had. Some of them take it all a bit seriously…
Name the one career ambition you want to realise before you retire:
I’d like to destroy a minister’s career…

At least he's honest about his most embarrassing moment:"And what's your most embarrassing moment? – Vainly thinking that I could take on (Jeremy) Paxman and Michael White (political editor of The Guardian) on Newsnight. They gave me a spit-roasting."

Oh, I can think of a far more embarrassing moment than that…But it's something that Paul struggles to keep OUT of the newspapers, so he's hardly likely to volunteer it.:o)

He's not – on Thursday evenings at a secret location in South London – Paula Staines?

I can neither confirm nor deny that… but I can say that Paul seems to prefer snappy uniforms to frilly frocks.

Being shown to be a serial fantasist on Newsnight may be embarrassing at the time, but can you imagine the long term shame if they had to shut the whole youth wing of political party because of your stupidity? Imagine the consequences. Banned from that party for life (the Lib Dems won't have him either), unable to speak about it, unable to admit you are in the wrong. Of course, never really being held to account in public may just make you a bit of a big-head.I must go and shake the dust off my old copies of the Guardian. I'm sure I meant to write up a blog-post on one of them.
