Fellow bloggers, you know I don’t do this kind of thing often, but this country needs your help and the stakes are high. It is also of vital importance that the response is high, and I cannot do this with my blog alone. Even working together, it may be an uphill climb.

What I want you to do is this:

***********************************************************************

1. Use this facility to look up and contact your MP:
http://www.writetothem.com/

2. Tell them that 97% of Sun readers do not support Blair’s 90-day detention plan and/or send them this link:
https://www.bloggerheads.com/archives/2005/11/the_sun_newspap.asp

3. Publish steps 1, 2 and 3 on your own weblog (or send/post these details to your usual community/messageboard).

***********************************************************************

Thank you.

[Note: This offer/appeal expires at 4:30pm November 9 2005]

If you’re a political blogger or an elected official (preferably with blogging experience), I’d welcome any public or private feedback on the following preview of the Westminster seminar:

Cheers all.

PS – One week without beer so far… and I’ve already lost a kilo.

I need to reserve comment on this for the moment, but the issue should be highlighted.

You’ve met Dennis Paul before… he produced this impressive pamphlet for the impoverished persons of Guildford.

Now he has an unregulated online discussion room (read here or post here) that has – surprise, surprise – been detected and abused by spambots. His reaction was to blame this inevitable intrusion on “Lib Dem spammers”… before swiftly deleting the offending entry.

He is a nice man, and has further plans for the good people who live in my area. You may wish to spend some time getting to know him.

The Political Weblog Project.

(Launch post is here.)

We need more of our elected officials communicating with us properly online, and we need them now.

The idea is to spread knowledge, deal with any misconceptions, and bring together a team of providers that can deliver suitable packages at a set cost.

Let me know what you think.

Oh, and please take note:

Just a quick question… two previously fully-functional political weblogs now appear to be in the hands of blog-spammers:

http://pughwatch.blogspot.com/
http://libdemmike.blogspot.com/

How has this come to be? My best guess is that the old blogs were deleted or shut down in a way that made their names available to enterprising spammers.

I have a Boring But Important job I have to get on with over the next few days – finding the offcial starting date of all MPs or councillors who have started actual weblogs. (Same goes for proxies.)

If you run one of these or know of one and when it started (backdated entries don’t count – I want the actual launch date), please do check in via email. A long-overdue project is being prepared.
