Help Teach American Youth That “Bush Was Right!”: The youth in America are being LIED to by liberal politicians and the mainstream media… but we’ve come up with a GREAT way to get the TRUTH to them: MUSIC. everywhere they turn, the mainstream media is lying to them about the FACTS — like the FACT that WMDs were found in Iraq, including enriched uranium, chemical weapons agents, chemical warheads containing cyclosarin, radioactive materials in powdered form, roadside bombs loaded with mustard and “conventional” sarin gas, etc.; or the FACT of clear, uncontested, proven links between Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and Al Qaeda; or the FACTS of all of the GOOD news that’s happening in Iraq, which the media refuses to report! We think it’s time they hear the TRUTH – so we’re launching a full-out nationwide campaign to get this new song full of TRUTH onto MTV and radio stations across America! WILL YOU HELP US? We’re putting together a “kickin'” music video right now, and we’re preparing a HUGE grassroots campaign to get hundreds of thousands of people to request Bush Was Right! on MTV’s “Total Request Live” show… leading to our demands for it to be played in regular rotation! If they DON’T – then we’ll hit the media in a BIG way, showing how MTV plays left-wing videos while CENSORING conservative videos!

Yes, I’m sure that if this doesn’t make it to air it will only be because of the clear liberal bias on music television. And Billy Joel is sure to sue these boys only because he loves Saddam Hussein.

Here’s a sample of the song. (You’ll need ReallyCrapPlayer to listen to it.)

Get down wif the truth, MTV… or they’ll pop some upper-caps in yo’ ass. Dig?

UPDATE – Ooh, look kids… you can buy the MP3 for less than one American dollar!

UPDATE – Ahahahahahahaha! This clip from MSNBC says it all.

If you’re not on George W. Bush’s enemies list, then you haven’t been trying hard enough. Shame on you.

OK, hands up everyone who *doesn’t* think that ‘retired’ PR guru (and national-security/intelligence consultant) Alastair Campbell keeps a list just like this one?

Well, the U.S. isn’t quite with us yet, but…

Patrick Fitzgerald is expected to release documents within the next two hours and then hold a press conference at 2pm (Eastern time).

The BIG question is:

Bad news might be coming for the Bush administration… but will the media be capable of – *gasp* – carrying the story over a weekend?

Blogs to watch this afternoon: Atrios | DailyKos | Washington Monthly | Guardian Blog

UPDATE – Your invitation.

UPDATE – Gah!

UPDATE – I love ear-cupping. I do. It’s so charming.

UPDATE (6:22pm) – Indictment of Libby. (pause) Resignation of Libby. That’s gotta hurt. And if this is all the White House has…

UPDATE (7:35pm) – Christ on a bike! Patrick Fitzgerald is allowed to put things into *context*! Hutton and Butler must be *fuming*!

The Plame Affair: Here’s the story so far and here’s the latest scuttlebutt. Some ripples are reported here.

Everyone seems to think that today is the day and that in itself is cause for hope… because today is not Friday.

UPDATE – Perhaps you would care to listen to Rush Limbaugh conducting broadcast excellence while you wait

UPDATE – Someone can smell blood in the water. Why else would they launch such a cowardly attack on poor Mr Cheney…?

Washington Post – Vice President for Torture: It’s not surprising that Mr. Cheney would be at the forefront of an attempt to ratify and legalize this shameful record. The vice president has been a prime mover behind the Bush administration’s decision to violate the Geneva Conventions and the U.N. Convention Against Torture and to break with decades of past practice by the U.S. military. These decisions at the top have led to hundreds of documented cases of abuse, torture and homicide in Iraq and Afghanistan.

UPDATE – Circle the wagons, boys!

UPDATE – The latest non-news has everyone waiting until… can you guess which day? Oh, go on… have a guess.

Observer – Geek gets it: Like FDR, Rove and Bush have sought to fundamentally change the way Americans think about the role of government. They have brought religion into political life like never before. They have merged the interests of the administration with those of big business, especially oil. They have cut taxes for the rich. They have abandoned any pretence of isolationism in foreign policy for a doctrine of pre-emptive war. They have mastered the art of attacking a political opponent and cowed the media.

DailyKosWhen Did The President Know And When Did He Start Lying?

Washington Monthly – Life Without Karl

Please let this week be the week that reality and accountability finally start to creep back into politics.

*sigh*

I can’t help but think of evil twin Alastair Campbell, who quietly ‘retired’ when the heat was on… but returned to work with even greater stealth a few months later.

Rove and Campbell are cockroaches… they scatter when the light is turned on, but persistence and determination is required to finish them off. Does anyone have a hefty slipper handy?

FT – Cheney ‘cabal’ hijacked US foreign policy: Vice-President Dick Cheney and a handful of others had hijacked the government’s foreign policy apparatus, deciding in secret to carry out policies that had left the US weaker and more isolated in the world, the top aide to former Secretary of State Colin Powell claimed on Wednesday.

Immediate response(The image to your right is an uncredited picture that is appearing on websites and in email inboxes around the planet.)

New York Times – Bush Takes Responsibility for Failures in Storm Response
Reuters – Bush: ‘I take responsibility’
AP – Bush Takes Responsibility for Blunders
BBC – Bush takes storm responsibility
A very, very long discussion thread at Fark.com
Kevin Drum ponders on responsibility

Bush’s actual words were:

“Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government, and to the extent that the federal government didn’t fully do its job right, I take responsibility.”

responsibility – confession; crying out; admission of guilt with the expectation of no further consequences in exchange for coming clean.

‘to the extent that’ – as far as it goes; weasel words; limitation device usually applied to level of responsibility or culpability.

This is a damage-limitation exercise, where the blame still lies with anyone but the administration. There is nothing in this statement that acknowledges any error on their part… at all. Not even an admission that Bush made an error appointing the incompetent and woefully under-qualified crony Mike Brown.

And efforts are still being made to assure the public that blame lies with local and state officials.

Speaking of which:
Daily Kos – Blanco didn’t goof on state of emergency
Media Matters – Limbaugh advances numerous falsehoods while discussing Hurricane Katrina

Whilst we’re in the realm of the wingnut, it bears mentioning that an impassioned discussion is going on right now in America about what the right chooses to call ‘personal responsibility’. The basic thrust of it is that it is not the government’s job to protect you. You have to take care of yourself.

Here’s Bill O’Reilly on the case (please note the outright lie at beginning of his rant): The lesson here is that if you rely on the government for anything you’re likely to be disappointed. No government can protect you from danger or provide you with a decent living. You must provide for yourself in a country of 300-million people.

But the same people assure us that the Bush administration needs to wage war, scupper foreign governments, spread the ideology of profit (at a profit), kidnap, torture and bomb civilians, and invade the privacy and curtail the rights of their own people…. in order to protect them.

I think the most suitable response to that can be summed up with the words used by this chap addressing Dick Cheney in New Orleans.

Washington Post – End of the Bush Era: Recent months, and especially the past two weeks, have brought home to a steadily growing majority of Americans the truth that President Bush’s government doesn’t work. His policies are failing, his approach to leadership is detached and self-indulgent, his way of politics has produced a divided, angry and dysfunctional public square. We dare not go on like this.

What struck me most about the announcement that Mike Brown was to be sacked recalled to Washington?

Was it the startling revelation that “the weather continues to operate”…? No.

Was it that Mike Brown was being called back to headquarters just in case something really serious happened? No.

Was it the bold inclusion of the disaster-so-big-that-nobody-anticipated obfuscation? No.

Was it the assurance that Mike “Horse’s Ass” Brown had done his very very best in the face of it all? No.

Was it Michael Chertoff telling reporters that he could only dodge take a few questions because he had vital rescue work to get on with?

Again, no.

What struck me most about this announcement was the timing.

Despite all the talk of the need for immediate action, the Bush administration waited until late Friday afternoon to put someone competent in charge of Hurricane Katrina relief duties:
