13th Dec 2012
Hi folks. Genuinely sorry to have worried anyone, but there’s not a lot I can say right now. As soon as I am able to publish the full and accurate detail about what’s been going on, you’ll be the first to hear about it.
Cheers all. I’m back on deck in Twitter if you need me.
13th Jul 2011
I’ve just been reminded that now would be a good time to do a little fundraising drive. Two reasons: I’d like to be free to spend more time on this Murdoch implosion, and I’m off on an extended volunteering jaunt later this month.
So, to support Bloggerheads and keep things ticking over, there are three things you can do:
1. Endorse my SEO seminar through your Twitter page or via a link in your blog sidebar (if you’ve read the blog, you know my kung fu is strong and my ethics are sound):
SEO Seminar: Understanding Google, Relevance and Optimisation
2. Send work my way:
I do SEO consultancy work that helps clients handle a lot of challenges themselves and/or get the best out of their staff and/or chosen SEO/content/marketing provider. A breakdown of relevant services is available here, but with most situations the best use of my time (and the best value from the client’s POV) is the seminar/workshop.
3. Just send money:
20th Jan 2011
I expect to bring you some important updates today (Thursday 20 Jan), if not soon after that. I don’t want to say or even hint what the update concerns, as I do not wish to imply that the following is in any way connected:
AN URGENT APPEAL
PLEASE BLOG OR TWEET ABOUT THIS, BUT ONLY* LINK TO THIS PAGE (i.e. on bloggerheads.com), BECAUSE IT IS WHERE RELEVANT UPDATES WILL BE POSTED:
(or http://j.mp/gvMjb5 if using Twitter)
(*Basically, because I do not want people dashing about gathering header data any longer than is necessary. I’m sure you understand.)
OK, ‘shouting’ over. All done. Are you all ready? Good. Housekeeping:
If you have received an email or have been made aware of any kind of electronic message from/about a person who claims to have knowledge of material retrieved from my rubbish bin, I would greatly appreciate (a) hearing about it, and (b) receiving the full headers of the relevant notifying email so I might collate a package of evidence for presentation to the police as soon as it possible.
- If you are using Outlook Express / Windows Mail:
Right-click on the message while viewing the Inbox/folder it sits in and you should be able to choose the option ‘send as an attachment’. Address it to me, and type ‘housekeeping’ in the subject field. You can also put a message in the text area saying ‘howdy’ etc. before sending, but there is no need if you are pressed for time; it’s the attachment I’m interested in. This will send me the whole email, headers and all, and I will (hopefully) be able to retrieve the relevant IP data from the sender. Please send to: bloggerheads DOT com AT gmail DOT com
- If you are using Gmail:
While viewing/reading the email itself, look to the top right hand corner of the email and you will see the word ‘Reply’. Do not click this. Click the downward-pointing arrow to its immediate right and choose ‘Show original’ from the pull-down menu. On the page full of code that opens in a new tab or window, hit ‘Ctrl+A’ (Select All) then Ctrl+C (Copy), then open an email to the address below, type ‘housekeeping’ in the subject field and finally, in the body of the email (where you normally type the text/message), hit Ctrl+V (Paste). This will send me the full headers of the email as text and I will (hopefully) be able to retrieve the relevant IP data from the sender. Please send to: bloggerheads DOT com AT gmail DOT com
ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED A COPY
Police may (I stress may) wish to contact some recipients, and may require access to the original, or a statement from you verifying that you are the source of this data. The original is worth hanging on to. Please keep it somewhere safe.
If you have been contacted via a Twitter message, please advise me of the relevant username via email – bloggerheads DOT com AT gmail DOT com – and we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
If people are shy about coming forward, I will point out that on its own it may not look like much to some people, but I have good reason to believe that recipients of the email I am concerned about are holding evidence of a criminal act. You may view things differently based on what little you can see (or maybe even have views about me or my politics that make you wonder why you should bother) but by withholding the information I speak of, you risk the appearance of complicity.
I do not exaggerate for the sake of generating any false impression or accusation here. This post contains no intimation of who this is about, so there is no point. I have no desire to conduct any trial by media, or release the relevant information to the public; the intention is to collate a package of evidence and send it on the police. ASAP.
If you are the type of person who would rather insist that you contact the police directly (or even insist that they contact you) then I am sorry, but you would really need to be an exceptional case before I would agree to handing out the relevant contact details of very busy people and/or asking police to fetch individual scraps of evidence the themselves, especially when time is of the essence and it is in everyone’s interests to nip this one in the bud. You could email me and ask if you like, but do not sit on this data. Sitting on this data would be a mistake.
So, to summarise, if you know what I am talking about because you have received an email/message like the one I describe, everything most people need to know to do something about it is above. If you have received it in email form and experience any difficulty in sending me a copy of the message complete with headers** then please contact me and I will endeavour to guide you through the process to the best of my abilities and with as little fuss as possible in the time available to me.
Cheers all. Back soon with that update I spoke of as soon as is possible.
(**I assume in this post that almost every owner of a Mac will know how to do this. Thus the seemingly Windows-centric view.)
17th Aug 2010
I’m doing my first ‘Pecha Kucha’ style presentation at an event in Guildford this evening but was in two minds about showing off the current status of one of my long-term search results. Being second to Tim Berners-Lee is one thing, but I wasn’t sure if I liked being slightly less popular than Mel Gibson:
Happily, by breakfast this morning, it had all sorted itself out:
BORING FINE PRINT – This is a brand new result (I can’t recall overtaking Berners-Lee before) and Google runs multiple servers offering slightly different results at times, so your mileage may vary, especially if you are signed in to Google and have set some search preferences. These searches are from a UK perspective, and will appear only for UK-based users of Google. Currently I’m 37th in Google’s .com database. Search positioning should not be used as the sole indicator of the quality of your Tim(s).

Bit of an extraordinary post, this one. Apologies for bending your ear.
After a rotten 18+ months facing some quite extraordinary harassment from a range of Conservative-aligned dastards and assorted supporting fruit-loops, I face one of my greatest challenges in the coming months.
It is not a legal challenge or a sudden increase in bullying by anonymous cowards or anything like that; it is a deeply personal challenge, it is as serious as it gets, and it is going to eat a BIG chunk of my time as I work to care for those I love.
I wish I could tell you more, but I’m not at liberty to share the full details, and in the current circumstances I fear there are those who would take advantage of even scant details. (They’ve certainly stooped lower previous to this.)
I will be offline for two weeks from tomorrow.
After that, I hope to continue blogging and working, but you may note that both my blog and my services have now been updated and streamlined.
I hope this will allow me to continue the mix of blogging and work that’s sustained me for the past decade (details of which are now finally available through a single, searchable database, BTW).
If you would like to help, there are two or three things you can do:
1. Check out my new series of articles on the subject of SEO (and the related seminar product) and bring on any link love as you see fit:
2. Refer potentially interested parties to my new seminar/services through other means. Such as email, conversation or carrier pigeon.
3. Cut out the middle man and just send money (a ‘donate’ button has been added, top right, along with the rest of the gubbins).
I apologise for the poor timing, but there’s no getting around the way things are, and the way they will be.
Comments will remain open for today, and will then be suspended for two weeks.
UPDATE – Comments may be on and off today, too. IntenseDebate is taking much longer than expected to process previous comments. Apologies if your comment is held over. You are in a very long queue behind a series of historical comments.

For the avoidance of doubt;
- I am busy, and working behind the scenes on the main story; what Patrick Mercer and his staff are hiding (and, to a lesser extent, the lengths they will go to in order to keep it a secret).
- I did not write the email that Dominic Wightman is using as his latest plot device; but I invite you to read his illuminating response to it.
- If you receive anything that claims to be from me and it seems unexpected, unusual or in any way out of character, please use this address to check with me first (noting the ‘s’ in bloggerheadS’):
( bloggerheads DOT com AT gmail DOT com )
- I am also working on objects of artistic merit at the moment, so if there are no new developments on the main story, I will probably not be blogging, but instead building. Your most likely ‘live’ feed during this period is my Twitter channel.
Cheers all. Please write a letter to your MP if you haven’t already done so.
UPDATE (09 Oct) – Unity – Second Tabloid Terror Threat Story Exposed as a Fake
I predict another awkward silence from Patrick Mercer, and Daniel Jones of The People. What Wightman will have to say about it is anybody’s guess.
31st Jul 2009
[PLEASE NOTE - All email to my manic[AT]bloggerheads.com address will be rejected until further notice. Emails to this or any other bloggerheads.com-based address will NOT be received. If you wish to get in touch, please use the Gmail address (which appears below).]
For those who are not aware, the recent police investigation is ongoing, and everything from drawing lines to blogging details is problematic, mainly because of a still-unknown number of people who sought to take advantage of this situation.
I’m now away from my keyboard for a bit. I hope to tell you all about it when I get back online in a few weeks.
When I do get back, I expect there to be a long line of volunteers wanting to help on a new site; Express Watch.
(If we have enough volunteers left over, we may even crack on with Coulson’s old stomping ground – and home of quality journalism – News of The World.)
IT/admin, coder/designer, producer and/or established blogger/writer? We need you.
Really not up for much beyond Twitter or the odd comment? Yes, we need you, too.
This is a long-overdue measure with the Express; we are going to report the worst of their excesses and shine a ruddy great spotlight on their lack of regard for the PCC… and the public. While we’re about it, we’ll help that nice Mr Desmond with some of the difficulties he appears to be having with cross-promotion. (For some strange reason, many readers of his mainstream newspapers and magazines are unaware of his fine range of quality pornography.)
To join the line of volunteers, simply get in touch via email – using [media-watch] in the subject header – and let me know which project you would prefer to work on and in what capacity you expect to be able to help.
( bloggerheads DOT com AT gmail DOT com )
If you would prefer to work on a publication/site that this growing media watch project does not yet cover, please do speak up.
In fact, if you’re working on a current project and feel like a change of pace (or would like to request some extras), now’s the time to say something.
Back soon. Then we kick some heads. Figuratively speaking.

There are many things that I would love to blog about right now. I would love to tell you all about [censored] and their threat to [censored] but there are significant legal and moral obstacles.
Iain Dale knows of these obstacles. He also knows that I am effectively (and quite unjustly) silenced on this matter while suffering the continued fallout from a multi-faceted smear campaign involving an increasing number of players. (I can’t even address the Private Eye writer casually smearing me as a “nutter on a bus” in the current precarious conditions.)
However, for reasons he is keeping to himself, Iain Dale is knowingly continuing to publish and broadcast claims about me that he knows not to be true.
He does this knowing that the person smearing me is building their smears/fantasies on these false claims, and that his claims have also sparked several ‘copycat’ attacks that are no less damaging/alarming.
On top of this, the man claiming to act as Dale’s lawyer refused the offer of the relevant contact details and case number that would allow him to quickly establish why I had at least one good reason to persist in my attempts to contact Iain Dale on the weekend he was smearing Tom Watson. Instead, the man claiming to act as Dale’s lawyer has ignored my every email, for weeks now.
Further, Iain Dale has taken it upon himself to independently call people directly/tangentially involved in my case and accuse me of harassment (just as the man harassing me has been doing).
I went to call Iain Dale about this man and his recent publication(s) this morning… Iain answered the phone apparently under the impression that he was speaking not about that man, but to that man. He even greeted me by that man’s first name.
1. If Iain Dale has been in touch with the man who is harassing me, then perhaps he could admit it. Or deny it.
2. Either way, he also needs to explain why he appears to have ‘accidentally’ done so much to help that person over the past three months
3. And perhaps he could ****ing bring an end to it; I’m sure he’s quite enjoying my silence but the treatment I’ve been subjected to is entirely undeserved.
When other bloggers (from the left and right) recognised this attack on me as beyond the pale and went out of their way to help, Iain Dale took multiple steps to complicate rather than alleviate the situation. For a while there I thought that perhaps he was merely initially careless about the smears aimed at me and feared losing momentum and/or moral authority during ‘smeargate’, but his recent actions raise many doubts.
(NOTE – Iain was aware of a similar event in Guildford, but decided not to speak out about the actions of fellow Tories, and instead went on to smear me as a stalker… just as he is doing now, as it happens.)
UPDATE – No names in comments, please. It should be obvious what to avoid. Cheers all.
UPDATE – Iain Dale denies using that man’s first name in greeting on this morning’s call. He aso denies speaking to him or emailing him, but that is all Iain is prepared to say (or do) about this. He didn’t say a word about the increasingly problematic claims about me on his website that he knows to be false/untrue, be he did take a few seconds to accuse me of lying.

There will be very little in the way of blogging this week but you can follow me on Twitter if you like.

Well, my name is Tim Ireland… and I too am an alcoholic.
I haven’t touched a drop for almost a year now – essentially since discovering the magic and purity of the word/concept ‘zero’… but I was a relative lightweight in the field, I had the luxury of looking into somebody else’s abyss, and I didn’t have the balls to blog the process.
COMING SOON: Some stores and pubs are great about stocking decent 0% beer, but others not so much. I say it’s time the non-drinking beer drinkers had more choice than Becks or that goats-piss they call ‘Kaliber’ and I’m prepared to campaign for the privilege. For the record, there are two excellent and affordable options generally available; Bavaria 0.0% and my personal favourite, Cobra Zero. Both of these are stocked by major chains Sainsbury’s and Tesco, who have (I have noticed) slowly surrendered an increasing amount of valuable real estate to their range of non alcoholic beers. Non-alcoholic wine, however, is another matter, but I need to research some products more before pushing for anything.
(*That’s an easy pun for the taking, but you might want to leave it for the next guy.)
UPDATE – I’ve been meaning to post this picture of my local off-licence for a while now, too:
Sorry about that, Threshers.
